Black Sheep Gathering, Eugene OR
June 22-24, 2012
Romney breeders were well represented among the sheep breeders attending the Black Sheep Gathering in Eugene, OR this past weekend. Special congratulations go out to The Pines Farm/Schwiders for their champion white ram and to JK Korral/Kamenicky for champion white ewe. In the natural colored class, Silver Creek Lambscapes/Rooney won champion ram and ewe as well as young flock. The Silver Creek natural colored young flock went on to win the award for best young flock of the show, judged by Mark Eidman of CA. The youth show on Sunday also included a number of Romneys. Anne Nichols of Corvallis, OR earned a champion ribbon and trophy in the youth show with her white ewe, an animal with a truly special high luster and wonderfully handling fleece. Other ARBA juniors were out in the show ring as well, including Morgan Wolf from Wolf Creek Farm (WA) and Amelia Spielman who won reserve champion in the white open show with one of her ewes. It was great to see so many farms and breeders at the Gathering – The Pines/Schwiders, Wolf Creek Farm/Wolf, Southern Oregon Romneys/Mast & Zapelli, Thompson Romneys, Anna Rose Farm/Troncins, JK Korral/Kamenicky, Silver Creek Lambscapes/Rooney & Spielman, the Nichols, Amelia Spielman as well as other breeders who came to watch such as Eileen Hordyk. ARBA officers in attendance were Carol Pasheilich, Randy Thompson, Scott Culver, Tracy Haslem, and secretary Christiane Payton. Thank you to everyone for coming together and making it another great year to show Romneys here in Oregon!
