Mother Earth News Fair 2012
The first annual Mother Earth News fair located at the Western Washington Fairgrounds in Puyallup Washington was held June of 2011. District 5 Director Randy Thompson was approached to set up sheep displays, and sheep related demonstrations. With the help of District 4 Director Scott Culver, Al and Lin Schwider, Elaine Thompson, and the Shepherds Extravaganza Crew, the sheep portion of the fair was an incredible success. All were busy talking fiber, farm life and of course selling the Romney breed during the two days of the fair. In those two days, total attendance was close to 16,000, who strolled through the livestock displays, attending classes, looking at alternative energy booths and even test driving street legal electric cars. There were over 200 classes taught daily, with many big name speakers such as Ed Begely Jr. and Carol Ekarius. There was something for everyone at this fair, what all noticed was how educated and enthused the people were whom we met, in fact people drove from as far as Oklahoma and Alabama to attend this fair. Sustainability was the common topic on everyone’s minds, many people were envious of our Romneys and with the opportunities that our farm lives provided us. If you are interested in the 2nd annual Mother Earth News Fair, it will again be held at the Western Washington Fair Grounds in Puyallup Washington June 2nd through the 3rd. Again ARBA will be represented there with Romney sheep, with Scott Culver and Randy Thompson manning the ARBA promotional booth. If you have questions feel free to contact Randy or Scott.
