ARBA at NAILE 2010
ARBA had a successful year in Louisville, KY this year. As usual, NAILE was a hustle and bustle of excitement. The JRs start out the show week with their youth show. This year ARBA was well represented by 14 of our association’s youth: Rachel Berninger (DE), Katie Hacker (IN), Ava Jo Hayes (NJ), Ethan Kennedy (NY), Kristin Loughman (PA), Kaitlin MacIntyre (OH), Megan MacIntyre (OH), Elizabeth Niedziela (PA), Emily Passwaters (DE), Sean Pence (IN), Kyle Pearson (NJ), Caitlin Plank (MI), Ethan Plank (MI), and Cameron Snyder (IL). Our 14 youth brought a total head count of 44, it was a great show. All sheep exhibited were of top notch quality and the show was very competitive. Despite the level of competitiveness, it was nice to see all of our kids helping each other in the show ring and out of it. The placings are as follows (for all show results please visit the NAILE web site): Cameron Snyder had Champion Ram and Best Fleeced Ram, Res Champion Ram was secured by Kristin Loughman. Ava Jo Hayes had Champion Ewe with Res Champion Ewe going to Ethan Kennedy, and Best Fleeced Ewe was earned by Rachel Berninger. Sean Pence was awarded the SR Showmanship award and Ethan Plank received the JR Showmanship award. The Showmanship classes are getting tougher and more competitive each year, our youth are taking that very seriously and are very impressive to watch. Our youth each received a black hooded sweatshirt with embroidery depicting the show and year. These shirts were presented at our annual pizza party the night before the youth show.
The Open Show was supported by 12 exhibitors and 54 head of sheep. We had coast to coast representation this year. I will briefly review the results, for more specific results, please see the NAILE web site: The White Show results as follows: Little Hooves had Grand Champion Ram and Reserve Grand Champion Ewe , Silver Creek Lambscapes had Reserve Grand Champion Ram, Cameron Snyder had the Grand Champion Ewe, Sean Pence earned Best White Fleece and First Place Get of Sire, and Little Hooves received First Place Flock and Premier Exhibitor. The Natural Colored Show results were: Julian & Moore earned the honors of Grand Champion Ram & Grand Champion Ewe, as well as, Reserve Grand Champion Ram & Reserve Grand Champion Ewe, Best NC Fleece was won by Dana Hayward, First Flock and Premier Exhibitor went to Julian & Moore Sheep Co.
